A major manufacturer of mechanical components needed innovative technology to advance the automation and autonomation of its processes and facilities as part of a global digital transformation initiative. Working with Decisyon, the company built and deployed an end-to-end IIoT solution that orchestrates data from sensors and business systems, configures machines remotely, and changes machine status without human intervention.
The challenge
Change-over between part variants was slow, manual, and error-prone. Settings lived in operator know-how and spreadsheets, line conditions were only visible at the machine itself, and quality and OEE were measured after the fact. Leadership wanted a single way to see, configure, and control every machine across plants — without sending engineers to the floor for every adjustment.
The solution — App Composer + Smart Gateway
Using Decisyon's App Composer low-code/no-code platform together with the Smart Gateway application, the team built an IIoT solution that collects all relevant data from PLCs, sensors, MES, ERP and historians, pushes machine configurations from a mobile device, and changes machine status automatically based on production context. A digital twin of each line gives operators, engineers, and plant managers the same real-time view of status, quality, and OEE.
Remote, autonomous change-over
Recipes and parameters are now pushed to equipment with one action from a tablet, with the gateway validating settings and confirming machine state before production resumes. Change-overs that used to require physical intervention on each machine are executed remotely and consistently, freeing skilled technicians for higher-value work.
The results
The manufacturer slashed change-over and production time, improved safety by reducing manual interventions on running equipment, and raised overall process stability. Planning follow-up is more accurate, quality is higher, and the same playbook now scales to additional lines and plants on the same platform.
